ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has submitted a challan in the anti-terrorism court (ATC) Tuesday, formally declaring former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf as accused in Benazir Bhutto murder case, Geo News reported.

The anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi headed by Judge Habibur Rehman heard the Benazir Bhutto murder case today during which the FIA submitted the case challan.

According to the challan, Pervez Musharraf has been declared an accused in the light of the statement given by American journalist Mark Siegel and has alleged that Musharraf was involved in Benazir’s murder conspiracy.

FIA’s Prosecuter Chaudhry Azhar could not appear in the court due to security concerns.

According to a report submitted by the CPO, security could be provided to prosecutor from airport to the court but it was not possible to ensure 24-hour security for him.

The court ordered to ensure the FIA prosecutor’s presence in the next hearing while the ATC granted one-day exemption to Pervez Musharraf from appearing in the court due to security concerns today.

The court will decide about giving Musharraf a permanent exemption from appearing in the court in the next hearing while the copies of the order will also be distributed.
