FBR freezes all accounts of national airlines

KARACHI: Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has seized all the accounts of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on being tax defaulter, Geo News reported.
Sources said PIA is tax defaulter of Rs3 billion. FBR seized accounts of national airlines to mount pressure on it for paying taxes.
It would be hard for PIA to issue salaries of its employees timely after account seizure, the sources said and added that it would also face difficulties to pay oil companies and for spare parts.
Meanwhile, PIA spokesman said measures were being adopted at high level for restoration of accounts. He was optimistic that airlines146 operations would not be affected.
