QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) called for protest demonstrations across the province on July 2 against what it claimed as an operation of security forces in the town of Wadh in Khuzdar district.
Agha Hassan Baloch, the Central Secretary Information of BNP-M told Dawn.com that security forces had launched an operation in Wadh and surrounding areas. “Forces have picked up 12 BNP-M activists without any reason,” Baloch claimed. He said that the people of the area were being punished for voting in favour of Sardar Akhtar Mengal in the provincial assembly elections.
BNP-M also announced to observe a shutter-down and wheel jam strike on July 4 across Balochistan against what the party claimed as the security forces’ partial action against its workers in Khuzdar district.
“The party is being punished for raising its voice for the Baloch coast and resources,” the Central Secretary Information said. He said that despite all odds and conspiracies, the people of Balochistan had reiterated their confidence in his party in the recently held general elections.
