Cell phones, drugs available in Jhang Jail

LAHORE - Dozens of dangerous prisoners belonging to banned outfits have been kept in Jhang Jail that has been declared one of most sensitive prisons in the province but the situation of security tells another story. 
According to a Dunya News report, the prisoners have been seen using mobile phones without any check by the jail authorities while some prisoners are running their gangs and are involved in extortion.
According to the report, there are 800 mobile phones under the use of prisoners in the jail declared sensitive.Allegedly the jail staff is involved in violation of jail rules and manual.
One of the prisoners using mobile phone is Tanveer of Gujranwala who is involved in murder, robbery and other crimes while another prisoner namely Irfan Baloch is also involved in murder, robbery and other cases. The prisoners have to pay only Rs 5,000 per month to get a mobile phone in the jail.

Meanwhile, if any prisoner refuses to bribe the jail staff, he is tortured by the jail staff.

An accused Saif Chadhar had been shifted to District Headquarter Hospital for medical checkup after the torture.

The prisoners can also get narcotics in the jail due to the involvement of the jail staff in this business.
