India wants peace, says Mukherjee

NEW DELHI: India is committed to building a 147friendly and cooperative148 relationship with Pakistan that leads to peace and prosperity in the region, President Pranab Mukherjee said on Tuesday.

I take this opportunity to reiterate Indias commitment to building a friendly and cooperative relationship with Pakistan that leads to peace in our region and progress and prosperity of our peoples, he said while greeting the government and people of Pakistan on Independence Day.

In a message to President Asif Ali Zardari, Mr Mukherjee said: On the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan, I have the pleasure of conveying...our felicitations to the government and the people of Pakistan.
