PCB appeals against IHC order

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday filed an appeal against the recent order passed by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on the disqualification of PCB chief Zaka Ashraf.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of the IHC on July 19 issued the detailed judgment on the petition filed against the election of PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf, declaring the appointment of Zaka as illegal and also struck down four sections of the newly adopted constitution of the PCB.
Justice Siddiqui also declared that the interim PCB chief Najam Sethi was no more an acting chairman, he was rather a caretaker of the PCB for 90 days.

The PCB legal counsel contended in the appeal filed before the two members division bench that the IHC single bench had assigned Sethi the role of caretaker chairman and under the court directions Sethi was assigned to conduct free and fair elections only.

The appeal said Sethi was not in a position to take immediate decisions and it was very difficult for the selection of Pakistan team for the forthcoming tour to Zimbabwe and other coming contests.
