Following the Supreme Courts orders, the ECP has established a special wing and four 17-grade officers will be part of the special set-up.Sources told that the ECP has also issued notification in this regard.
According to the notification, the newly established wing will be responsible to coordinate with the four provinces in order to hold local bodies elections on time.
Earlier on July 18, the ECP had dispatched separate letters to the concerned provinces containing instructions to comply in connection with the holding of local bodies elections.
The commission had directed the provinces to adopt a uniform mechanism to hold the polls.
The letters instructed to formulate uniform legislation for the said elections besides maintaining similarity in the mechanism adopted for the purpose to ensure simultaneous holding of by-elections across the country.
