PTI contested poll to not leave open field for PML-N candidate: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said that his party contested the Presidential election after consultation as it did not want to leave an open field for the PML-N candidate.
Talking to reporters outside parliament House, Khan said the presidential election had turned controversial after several political forces had decided to boycott it.
He demanded of the Supreme Court to investigate rigging allegations in the May 11 general elections at least in four constituencies through thumb impression verification.
To a question, Imran Khan said the apex court has yet not responded to the petition in which PTI demanded to hold investigation into rigging charges in the election.

He claimed that the May election was massively rigged as all political forces except PML-N stated so. He alleged that the Returning Officers (ROs) had played a role in rigging.

Imran Khan said during the All Parties Conference (APC) in 2007 that the PML-N had agreed not to join hands with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) unless it disbands its militant wing.

He said the PML-N had deviated from its commitment.

In light of the recent attack by Tehrik-i-Taliban insurgents on the Central Prison in Dera Ismail Khan, Khan said that PTI needed time to combat terrorism in Khyper Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

He said that KPK government had no independent intelligence on terrorist attacks, but it had to refer to the federal government for intelligence reports.
