ISLAMABAD: The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday nominated the names of two former judges to head the country's top accountability office, the National Accountability Bureau.
Shah proposed the names of Justice (Retd) Bhagwandas and Justice (Retd) Sardar Mohammad Raza as nominations for for the key position in a formal reply to a letter by the Prime Minister for the appointment of the NAB chairman.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Shah said that he had suggested the names of such reputable individuals whose characters could not be questioned.
Shah said that he did not oppose the names proposed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, but had merely put forth his own recommendations.
The prime minister had nominated the names of Justice (Retd) Rehmat Hussain and Khawaja Zaheer Ahmed in his letter to the opposition leader.
Meanwhile, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also spoke to the opposition leader over telephone on Tuesday to discuss matters relating to parliamentary affairs. Shah informed the NA speaker about his formal reply to the PM over the appointment of NAB chief.
