ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday to weed out its unscrupulous officers and to set up an Anti-Money Laundering Cell on an immediate basis, DawnNews reported.
Chaudhry Nisar chaired a meeting in the federal capital during which he reviewed the performance of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) and the FIA.
FIA's Director General briefed the federal interior minister over the performance of the investigating agency, after which Khan instructed the DG to remove all unscrupulous officials of the FIA from within its ranks and said that a committee would soon be constituted in this regards.Khan added that postings in the FIA would be based upon better performance of officials.
The federal interior minister further ordered for the setting up of an Anti-Money Laundering Cell on an immediate basis.
Chairman of Nadra gave a briefing during which he informed Nisar Ali Khan that the bio-metric registration of the population's 96 per cent of men and 86 per cent of women was completed.
Chaudhry Nisar instructed Nadra's chairman that the system of e-voting should be prepared before the next general elections.
Talking about the situation in Egypt Nisar said that the world community, including Pakistan, was concerned over the removal of the democratically-elected president of Egypt and added that he hoped the situation would soon return to normal in the north African country.
