KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Coordination Committee member Aamir Khan Monday said that an unannounced state-backed operation had been launched against his party once again, Geo News reported.
Addressing a press conference here at MQM headquarters, Nine Zero, Khan said that party workers and citizens of Karachi were feeling insecure in the given circumstance, adding that nine of MQM workers had been killed this month only.
Calling for state protection for the Kachchi community, which was being victimized by gangsters in Lyari, he further said that MQM did not want to open a front with anyone in the largest interest of the people.
Khan also alleged that terrorists were targeting Kachchi community in Lyari and there was nobody to protect the poor people, who were always in the line of fire.
MQM had raised this issue several times but no action was taken against Lyari146s armed and dangerous gangs, added he.
Calling the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) and Human Rights Wings for raising voice for the victims, coordination committee member said that the government and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) had been nothing but 'silent spectators' in this regard.
Khan also urged the president, prime minister, federal interior minister and governor Sindh to take notice of these excesses.
